Iron Workers Local 48 Apprenticeship

Local 48's apprentice program allows its students to receive the most up to date training available  in every aspect of the ironworking trade. As an ironworker apprentice you will earn while you learn, the training you will receive will consist of on the job and class room training, The classroom training will cover subjects that are used everyday by Journeyman Ironworkers including Welding, Blueprint reading,  Fabrication  practices, math and precision instrument setup and use. Other subjects include ornamental iron and curtain wall systems used in storefronts and other locations. Apprentices will also be instructed in the use, placement and tying of reinforcing steel used in every aspect of concrete construction, apprentices attend classes on Saturdays so that they can continue to work full time during the week. Ironworkers also work hand in hand with various types of cranes, and heavy lift machinery, apprentices are instructed in the use and placement of the most up to date rigging technology available to Ironworkers today. One of the most important subjects for construction today is safety, Ironwoker apprentices receive extensive safety training dealing not only with subjects pertaining to ironwork but in every facet of todays construction sites. Upon successful completion of the apprentice program you will receive the title of journeyman Ironworker, a title that comes with a long proud history of tradition and pride, that pride comes from the knowledge that you are the best in what you do and the organization that you belong to.
